Description: In this assignment I was to use HTML and CSS to make a web page that showcases one of my past logo designs. In the process I show my new HTML and CSS skills and my ability to use FOCUS principles in web page design.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For this project I used Notepad ++ for my HTML and CSS edits. I used Adobe Illustrator to create a custom bullet point for the web page. I worked to create alignment between my different elements by changing the padding and indents. I also worked to create unity by incorporating the colors from my logo into the text and boxes of the webpage. I then took a moment to think about the FOCUS principle to simplify the message. To accomplish this, I removed a box around part of my text that was interrupting flow, and I changed my bullet point from a cupcake to a simple cherry.
Message: My message for this project was to showcase my logo design, and show my ability to create a functional and creative web page.
Audience: An employer who asked to see an example of my web page design as well as anyone who might be interested in logo design.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how useful CSS can be to a designer. CSS can be used to organize the layout of a web page, a FOCUS principle. With CSS it is easy to organize your positive and negative space, group similar objects to create flow, and align elements.
